A local caffeine institution is celebrating its 10th birthday, so we thought what better time to delve into the story of Story Coffee. We caught up with founders Sof and Jo to talk coffee beans, brunch and what they love most about Wandsworth town.
Tell us who you are and what you do.
Sof: We are a specialty coffee shop with two locations in Wandsworth and Battersea. In Wandsworth we also serve brunch, natural wine, retail guest coffees and brewing equipment.
How did Story Coffee come about?
Jo: We began with the idea to open a quality focused coffee shop. Our ambition was to bring the best coffee possible to our community in South West London.
Sof: The name Story came about with purpose of being able to provide full transparency on our product, so you’ll know the region where our coffee beans are from, the coffee processing methods, and where our dairy comes from. We work closely with our suppliers, most of whom are independents.
Jo: This year we are also very excited to be celebrating Story Coffee’s 10th year!
What’s your house blend?
Sof: We have our own blend which is roasted weekly. It comprises of a full bodied 60% Brazil Mantiqueira Mountains and 40% Ethiopia, Chelelektu to add some acidity and sweetness.
What’s the most popular item on your menu?
Jo: Our flat white is our most popular drink and our signature scrambled eggs dish is a favourite for brunch.
What’s your personal favourite?
Sof: I love our crème brûlée French toast, our newest addition, and fast becoming our most popular! It’s definitely one to try if you’re visiting Story Coffee, Wandsworth.
Where can we find you?
Jo: Our original coffee shop is on St John’s Hill, near Clapham Junction and our second is at the Ram Quarter in Wandsworth.
What’s your favourite thing about Wandsworth Town?
Sof: We have amazing green open spaces with a beautiful riverside which our café sits next to. The array of independent restaurants, cafes and shops are also fantastic.
