Spotlight: Little Explorers Society

Looking for a fresh and exciting way to stimulate your little one’s curiosity? Little Explorers Society is here; enter a world of pure imagination. We caught up with co-founder Lucy to find out more.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

We are Little Explorers Society – a fun, fresh and stimulating new baby sensory class based in Southfields. Each week, we explore a different theme with a bespoke playlist and props; ranging from colours and nature to jungle and space, so that our little explorers always get to encounter new sights, sounds and textures.

Parents often compliment us on our fancy dress props for the babies – just picture your little one wearing fluffy tiger ears or a mini-sized sailor hat…adorable! People also love our playlists. Forget boring nursery rhyme after nursery rhyme. We give you just a touch of that, mixed with a healthy dose of nostalgia – because you deserve to have a little fun, too.

How did Little Explorers Society come about?

Me and Fran met on our antenatal course and ended up having our baby boys only four days apart. We spent most of our maternity leave drinking coffee on pram walks around Wandsworth. But we also spent some time sampling the baby music classes in the area, but we found there was a gap for something a little less repetitive, featuring music that actually appealed to us (and not just the babies!). Not only that, but we also wanted to offer more flexibility.

So, we decided to take the plunge and set up Little Explorers Society – just before we both went back to our full-time jobs. With us, parents don’t have to sign up to a whole term of classes. You can choose to book either a block of four classes or just a single ticket, up to a couple of hours before the class takes place. We get that life with a baby can be unpredictable, to say the least!

What classes do you offer?

We currently offer classes on Thursday afternoons in Southfields. New-born-sitting is at 2:30pm and sitting-standing class is at 3:30pm. During November and December, we’re offering our block of 4 classes (aka the ‘Globetrotter ticket’) for only £40!

How can we book?

You can book via our website www.littleexplorerssociety.co.uk. Also follow us on Instagram – @littleexplorerssociety – to keep up to date with all our news regarding our periodic ‘specials’ and themed events.

Where are you based?

You can find us at Brathway Hall, Brathway Road, SW18 4BE. We’re hoping to expand to further locations in 2025!

What’s your favourite thing about Wandsworth Town?

We love that Wandsworth Town feels like a little village on the edge of the big city. There’s so much going on yet there’s still a community feel with lots of familiar faces and fantastic local businesses to discover. There’s also so many parents with young children living around there  – we hope they discover Little Explorers Society and really enjoy all their baby sensory adventures with us!
