Support Riverside Radio’s 10th anniversary charity fundraiser

If you can believe it, Riverside Radio is celebrating its 10th birthday! Originally launched as Wandsworth Radio in January 2015, Riverside Radio has become staple of audio entertainment across Wandsworth, Merton, Richmond, and Lambeth.

To celebrate their milestone birthday, Riverside Radio is launching a charity appeal in support of Sound Vision, an organisation committed to helping young people develop the skills and confidence to thrive in the media, and beyond. The funds raised through Riverside Radio’s appeal will expand the vital work they do in offering support and guidance to local young people and delivering creative opportunities.

The history of Riverside Radio

The station was founded by former BBC radio presenter Jason Rosam as a platform for local voices and music, following a successful Crowdfunding campaign to raise the money for the necessary studio equipment.

Wandsworth Oasis, a local HIV charity, offered the brand-new station a space above their shop on Battersea Park Road, and on 12 January 2015 the Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Stuart Thom, officially launched Wandsworth Radio.

In the summer of 2017, Wandsworth Radio moved to its new, purpose built studios at the Doddington and Rollo Business Centre in Battersea, and in 2018 the station was awarded the ‘Digital and RSL Station of the Year’ award at the Community Media Awards.

Building on its success and deciding to expand the station’s reach, Wandsworth Radio became Riverside Radio in preparation for broadcasting on DAB.

In 2020, Riverside Radio won ‘Digital Radio Station of the Year’ award at the Community Radio Awards, and it moves into the brand-new Broadcast Centre in Battersea.

“Ten years ago, we set out to create a station that celebrated the vibrant spirit of Wandsworth. Today, Riverside Radio stands as a testament to the power of community-driver media. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and I’m grateful to everyone who has contributed to our journey. Here’s the next decade of broadcasting excellence.” – Jason Rosam, Riverside Radio broadcaster and founder.
