Wandsworth parks get the Green Flag

A number of beloved community green spaces in Wandsworth were given the Green Flag during Love Parks Week, from Keep Britain Tidy. The Green Flag is an internationally-recognised symbol awarded to parks that demonstrate high environmental standards.

Wandsworth parks given the Green Flag:

  • Battersea Park
  • Coronation Gardens
  • Fred Wells Gardens
  • Garratt Park
  • Tooting Common
  • Wandsworth Common
  • Wandsworth Park

Green Flags not only celebrate the beauty of our neighbouring parks but also the hard work and dedication of the people responsible for maintaining them, like Enable, who manage local parks and green spaces on behalf of Wandsworth Borough Council.

“Our parks are vital community assets that provide residents with places to relax, play, and enjoy nature. So, winning seven prestigious Green Flag awards is an incredible achievement.

“To be recognised by the judges in this way is a reflection of the hard work our teams put into maintaining these wonderful spaces across the borough.”
Councillor Judi Gasser, Wandsworth Borough Council’s Member for the Environment

Established in 1996, the Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the UK and around the world.

To qualify for a Green Flag, parks must meet rigorous standards in areas such as environmental management, biodiversity, community involvement, and overall cleanliness and maintenance.
